Nicosia, December 5th, 2022,

On 28 November 2022, following the relevant ruling from the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) invalidating public access to UBO Registers within the EU, the Cyprus Registrar of Companies of the Republic of Cyprus has issued a statement confirming that the general public’s access to the UBO Register is suspended as of 23 November 2022.

According to the statement of the Registrar of Companies, the procedure under Regulation 12 of the Regulatory Administrative Act (RAA) 112/2021 as amended, according to which it is possible to obtain UBO Register related information upon request to the relevant supervisory authorities continues to apply. The same goes for the obligation itself for entities to register and update their UBOs.

Furthermore, according to the statement, the request will include the submission of a declaration confirming that the demand for UBO Register related information is made within the obligation of compliance of the applicant.
